Examination Rules & Regulations

At Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT), examinations are conducted with utmost integrity and fairness to ensure a transparent and credible evaluation process. All students are expected to strictly adhere to the examination rules and guidelines.


General Examination Guidelines

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in each course to be eligible for semester examinations.
  • Clearance of fees and other academic formalities is mandatory before appearing for the exams.

Examination Schedule & Admit Card

  • The exam schedule will be notified through the official college website, student portal, and departmental notice boards.
  • Students must collect their admit cards before the examination and present them when required.

Rules for Appearing in Examinations

  • Students must report to the examination hall at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
  • Latecomers (beyond 30 minutes) will not be allowed to enter the exam hall.
  • Carrying a college ID card and admit card is mandatory.
  • Only essential stationery items are permitted; mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators (unless permitted), or any electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited.

Code of Conduct During Exams

  • Maintain Silence & Discipline – Any form of communication with fellow students during the exam is strictly prohibited.
  • Follow Seating Arrangements – Students must sit according to their assigned roll numbers.
  • Use of Unfair Means is Strictly Prohibited – Any student found indulging in cheating, impersonation, or malpractice will face strict disciplinary action, including cancellation of the exam and possible suspension.
  • Permission for Leaving the Exam Hall – Students are not allowed to leave the examination hall within the first hour of the exam.

Guidelines for Practical & Viva Exams

  • Students must report on time as per the practical exam schedule.
  • All necessary materials, reports, and lab records must be submitted before the exam.
  • Viva examinations will be conducted as per departmental guidelines.

Post-Examination Rules

Result Declaration

  • Examination results will be published on the official college portal within the notified time frame.
  • Students must check their marks and report discrepancies (if any) within the stipulated time.

Re-Evaluation & Scrutiny Process

  • If a student wishes to apply for re-evaluation or scrutiny, they must submit a formal application within the given deadline.

Backlog & Supplementary Exams

  • Students failing in any subject must register for backlog examinations as per the institute’s rules.

Strict Compliance & Consequences for Violations

  • Any violation of the examination rules will lead to disciplinary action, including:
    • Cancellation of the examination paper.
    • Disqualification from future exams (for repeated offenses).
    • Other actions as per institutional disciplinary guidelines.
