Major Activities of the Training & Placement (T&P) Cell
The Training & Placement Cell (T&P) at MSIT, Kolkata actively works to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements, ensuring students are job-ready before graduation. Below are the key initiatives and activities undertaken by the T&P Cell:
1. Specialized Training Programs
- Department-wise, Project-Based Value-Added Training – Focused on Domain Knowledge Enhancement.
- Soft-Skill Training – Grooming students in communication, leadership, and corporate etiquette.
- Placement-Specific Training – Final-year students receive technical & aptitude training to enhance employability.
- Pre-Placement Training for 3rd Year Students – Includes aptitude, soft-skills, mock technical, and HR interviews.
- Value-Added Domain Knowledge Training for All Batches – Conducted every semester based on industry needs.
2. Industry Engagement & Placement Expansion
- Joint Initiatives with Departments – Collaborative efforts to provide industry-aligned workshops & training.
- Company Outreach & Industry Visits –
- High Power Committee of T&P Cell is formed, chaired by the Principal, comprising senior faculty members.
- The TPO (Training & Placement Officer) actively visits companies in key locations (e.g., Hyderabad & Chennai) to explore new employment opportunities.
3. Technical & Hands-On Learning Initiatives
- Technical Workshops & Tutorials for Unplaced Students – Conducted by Peer Groups (Placed Students).
- Programming Proficiency Committee – Formed with senior faculty members & industry professionals to enhance coding skills from 1st year onwards.
- Online Test Series & Question Bank –
- A Question Bank prepared by experienced faculty is integrated into the teaching-learning process.
- Online test series based on the Question Bank is conducted regularly for students.
4. Special Career Development & Higher Studies Support
- Career Development Cell (CDC) – Includes faculty mentors to monitor training, placement, and career opportunities.
- Encouraging Higher Studies & Competitive Exams – Students are supported to prepare for GATE, GRE, and PSU sector exams.
- Entrepreneurship & Start-Up Support – Students are encouraged & mentored to explore start-up ventures.
5. Industry Tie-Ups & Additional Support for Unplaced Students
Industry Collaborations – To enhance programming and employability skills, MSIT has tie-ups with:
- Infosys, EPAM, Google Cloud Study Jam, Directi (CodeChef), and other reputed industries.
Special Initiatives for Unplaced Students: - Hands-on programming skill enhancement sessions.
- Online aptitude test series & coding challenges.
- Soft-skill & language skill enhancement programs.
