Institution Innovation Council (IIC) at MSIT – Driving Innovation Under MOE’s Innovation Cell (MIC), MHRD, GOI

The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) at MSIT College, Kolkata, is an initiative aligned with the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) Innovation Cell (MIC), MHRD, Government of India. The council actively promotes a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and research-driven projects among students and faculty, ensuring that MSIT remains at the forefront of technological advancements and startup incubation.

Key Objectives & Activities of IIC at MSIT:

  • Encouraging Innovation & Startup Culture – Provides mentorship, guidance, and incubation support to students for developing innovative ideas, prototypes, and business models.
  • Collaboration with MIC, MHRD – Works under MOE’s Innovation Cell (MIC), MHRD, participating in national-level innovation challenges, hackathons, and research competitions.
  • Workshops & Training Programs – Regular sessions on design thinking, intellectual property rights (IPR), patent filing, business development, and technology commercialization.
  • Industry-Academia Partnerships – Collaborates with leading industries, research organizations, and startup incubators to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world applications.
  • Government-Funded Innovation Projects – Encourages students and faculty to apply for research grants, startup funding, and entrepreneurship development programs under MIC, DST, MSME, and Startup India.
  • Annual Innovation Competitions – Hosts events such as Hackathons, Ideathons, Smart India Hackathon (SIH), and Startup Bootcamps to foster creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial thinking.
