The Central Library: A Modern Hub for Learning and Research
The Central Library at Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology follows the Open Access System, allowing readers direct access to books and journals on the shelves. This system enables students and faculty to browse and select books of their choice, fostering independent learning and research.
To enhance efficiency, the library provides fully automated lending services using Libsys (LSEase), an integrated multi-user Library Management System.
Borrowing Privileges
- Students: Up to 10 books can be borrowed at a time.
- Faculty Members: Up to 10 books can be issued.
- Students can retain certain textbooks for an entire semester, subject to availability.
- Reference books are issued for a limited period, based on demand.
- A dedicated collection of books for project work and competitive exams is also available.
Advanced Digital and Web-Based Services
As a part of the Centre of Excellence, the library provides modern web-based services, including:
- Web OPAC & OPAC Facility: Users can search for books, resources, and newly added materials from anywhere within or outside the campus.
- Student Account Access: Students can track their borrowed books, due dates, and lending history and receive overdue notifications via email.
- Institutional Repository: Access to previous years’ question papers, e-books, and other academic resources.
- Digital Library Access: Users can explore a vast collection of e-books, e-journals, NPTEL materials, and other digital resources.
Reading and Additional Facilities
- Spacious Reading Room: Available for both library members and non-members (with permission).
- Newspaper & Periodical Section: A wide range of technical journals, magazines, and national newspapers are available.
- Reprographic Services: Facilities for photocopying, printing, and scanning are accessible for academic use.
