About ECE
Welcome to the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at MSIT
The Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department, accredited by the NBA, was founded in 2001 at Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology. It is affiliated with MAKAUT and recognized by AICTE. The department provides both Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programs designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for success in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Committed to advancing technological research, achieving academic excellence, and fostering industry-oriented innovation, the department’s research initiatives span various high-impact areas, including VLSI and Device Modelling, Communication Systems, Wireless Networks, Signal and Image Processing, Microwave Antennas, Optical Communication, and Photonics. The ECE department is well-established and respected within the institution.
Our faculty members bring cutting-edge research, development, and design expertise into their teaching, ensuring that our students and alumni are well-prepared to pursue registration as professional engineers in the global engineering and scientific community. The department has earned an outstanding reputation for the employability of its graduates.
The setting up of the IEEE MSIT Student Branch, IEEE MSIT Electron Devices Society Student Branch Chapter and IEEE MSIT Communication Society Student Branch Chapter in this department have not only created new opportunities for research collaboration within and across the institute, but it has also provided avenues for new research areas for graduated students seeking admission for higher studies after graduation. Our faculty members also collaborate with prestigious institutions like Jadavpur University, MAKAUT, and IIEST Shibpur, forming part of national and international research networks.

The alumni of the department are well placed in academia, NGOs, the government, and the private sector. We have an Alumni advisory Board that consists of Alumni who are now in the core hardware industry like MICROCHIP-USA, INTEL-USA, TI, AMD, FUJITSU, WIPRO, TCS, CTS, IBM, INFOSYS, ICICI, GOOGLE, STANDARD CHARTERED, etc and also doing research works/higher study in National/International universities/IITs/IISCs like IISC Bangalore, IIT Chennai, IIT Kharagpur, Arizona State University, Colorado State University, Florida university, Louisiana State University, etc. The alumni advisory board provides unique opportunities for aspiring students by sharing their skills and experiences.
