Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

The Department of Information Technology at Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT) has designed its Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) to align with industry expectations, research advancements, and societal needs. These objectives are identified in consultation with industry experts, research organizations, distinguished educators, alumni, and employers.

PEO1: Strong Technical Foundation

To provide students with a solid grounding in mathematics, science, computing, and core engineering principles, enabling them to analyze, formulate, and solve hardware/software engineering problems and pursue advanced studies or research.

PEO2: Proficiency in IT and Engineering Applications

To equip students with in-depth knowledge in core areas of Information Technology, empowering them to analyze, design, and develop innovative solutions for real-world challenges using state-of-the-art technologies.

PEO3: Professionalism and Teamwork

To instill professional ethics, leadership, and teamwork skills, enabling students to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary environments and contribute meaningfully to industry, academia, and society.

PEO4: Lifelong Learning & Entrepreneurship

To foster a culture of lifelong learning, enhancing students’ ability to adapt to emerging technologies, communicate effectively, and take entrepreneurial initiatives that contribute to societal and economic growth.


Program Outcomes (PO)

Graduates of the Information Technology program will be able to:

PO1 – Engineering Knowledge: Apply mathematics, science, and engineering fundamentals to solve complex computing and engineering problems.

PO2 – Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, and analyze real-world challenges using first principles of mathematics, computing, and engineering sciences.

PO3 – Design & Development of Solutions: Design and develop efficient, secure, and scalable computing systems while considering public health, safety, societal, and environmental factors.

PO4 – Research & Investigation: Utilize research-based knowledge, data analysis, and experiments to derive meaningful conclusions in IT-based projects.

PO5 – Modern Tool Usage: Utilize modern software, programming frameworks, and IT tools for modeling, simulation, and real-world applications with an awareness of their limitations.

PO6 – Engineering & Society: Apply technical knowledge to assess and address issues related to society, safety, law, and cultural responsibilities in professional practice.

PO7 – Environmental Sustainability: Understand and evaluate the impact of IT solutions on sustainability and environmental conservation.

PO8 – Ethics & Professionalism: Adhere to ethical standards, best practices, and professional responsibilities in the IT industry.

PO9 – Teamwork & Leadership: Work efficiently as an individual and within teams, demonstrating strong leadership in multidisciplinary settings.

PO10 – Communication Skills: Develop effective written and oral communication skills for technical documentation, presentations, and collaborations.

PO11 – Project Management & Finance: Apply engineering and management principles to handle projects, manage budgets, and optimize resources in a multidisciplinary environment.

PO12 – Lifelong Learning: Stay updated with evolving technologies, emerging trends, and innovations through continuous learning and self-improvement.


Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)

Graduates of the B.Tech in Information Technology program will be able to:

PSO1 – Core Computing & Mathematical Expertise: Apply fundamental concepts of mathematics, probability, discrete structures, and programming to analyze, design, and develop computing systems for solving complex problems.

PSO2 – Advanced Problem-Solving & Research: Utilize cutting-edge tools, algorithms, and frameworks in IT and computer science to evaluate, optimize, and develop research-driven solutions.

PSO3 – Industry Readiness & Societal Impact: Strengthen the industry-institute collaboration and enhance socio-economic development by leveraging emerging areas of computing such as AI, IoT, Cloud Computing, and Data Science to address real-world challenges.
