About

    The Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIEDC) of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT) was formed on 03.03.2015. The centre would enable students to reshape their business skills to prepare a practical prototype and work out business plan. The centre would help students in following areas

    To look in to the procedures, methodology, access funding, motoring among other activities which are vital to setting up and sustain business.

    Provide valuable management and consultancy advice that they will almost certainly need to guide them through the entire hours, why's, what's and when's business.

    Impart the hand holding support that most start-ups need, to enable them to move forward and experiment with business models.

    The incubation center also has connection with organizations and individual to encourage students and help them draw on a bigger canvas and facilitate sources of funding for their projects. It provide business environment to thrive and act live entrepreneurs. This centre is bringing together student innovator, entrepreneurs, alumni, venture capitalized, banks, subject experts and mentors to provide an ecosystem that will help students understand and the process and policy related to commercializing their business.

    All the departments are closely associated with IIEDC cell by providing members in the committee. The committee members along with other faculty members of the department actively participate by organizing various programs and by mentoring to different application software as well as hardware projects.

IIEDC SUCCESS STORIES DURING ASSESSMENT YEAR 2015-2016

    Addressing the challenges in the field of farming, the team of five students under the guidance of Dr. Sudip Dogra from Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology developed an Automated Irrigation System "Xencom" to solve a real-world problem and became the first-runner up at "The Texas Instrument Innovation Challenge India Design Contest" organized by Texas Instrument, India in June, 2015 and awarded by a Trophy and winning amount of USD 5000 from our beloved late President Prof. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The competition saw 11,200 participants from 654 different engineering colleges in India. The project was first runner-up out of initially 3200 projects selected from all over India. The five students are Anik Dutta, Suman Basak, Priyanjit Kumar Ghosh, Sourav Sinha and Mostafa Kamal Mallick of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology.

    Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIEDC) of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology invited Mr. Avelo Roy, the young entrepreneur from U.S., on 17.08.2015 for a speech. The program topic is "Success Mantra from a US Entrepreneur". Avelo Roy has been featured on CNN Money, Huffington Post, ABC7& Chicago Tribune among other news publications for his contributions to innovation and entrepreneurship.

    The Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIEDC) of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT) invited its students to participate in a innovative business plan competition "XCOGITATION 2015" detailing their unique business idea. 10 teams with a total of 34 participants presented their plan on 06.11.15.

    "MEGHOJYOTI- Pupil glow LED lamp" is being developed by IIEDC in association with Electrical Department of MSIT. The department of electrical engineering, MSIT organized a 4 day workshop on "project conceptualization and implementation" on 11th to 14th January, 2016. The students were sent to Industrial India Trade Fair 2016 to display and promote their product.

    The Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIEDC) of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT) signed MoU with The National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) is Wadhwani Foundation.

    Won 2nd prize,10k rupees in "Cross-Hack 2016" organised by R G KAR MEDICAL COLLEGE, for Doc Assist, a wireless robot capable of handling patients with treatments and testing many medical parameters and senses emergency O.P.D. and I.C.C.U units without control of any doctor or individual. Abhinaba Ghosh (ECE 4th yr), Zeeshan Qadir (ECE 4th yr), Wasim Reja (ECE 4th yr) and Md Masud Sarkar(ECE 4th yr) represented MSIT.

    The Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIEDC) of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT) Participated for E Week 2016 (20th-27th February 2016) and registered the same with NEN. The following programs were conducted by IIEDC-

    Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIEDC) of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT) organized an "Interactive Management seminar on Management, Employment & Entrepreneurship" on 25h February 2016 to encourage more startups. The seminar was on the necessity of startups and the route to a successful startup. This seminar was conducted in the NEN e- week of February 2016.

    Students of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT) participated and exhibited with stalls at the Industrial India Trade Fair, Salt Lake, Kolkata, 2016 during NEN e-week 2016.

    Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIEDC) of MSIT conducted "Business Plan Competition" where the participants presented their plans on a new business. This event took place during e-week 2016 on 22nd February 2016.

    Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIEDC) and MSIT conducted "Innovative Idea Challenge 2016". The event was conducted during e-week 2016.

    "Interactive seminar by with Mr. Subho Samanta, Former Vice President of Atos India" by Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIEDC) was conducted on 26th February 2016 i.e. during e-week 2016 to encourage startup plans among engineers and provide an able guidance to a crude plan.

    The Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIEDC) of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT) Participated for E Week 2016 (20th-27th February 2016) and registered the same with NEN. IIEDC received Runners-Up Award for the activities conducted during E-week 2016(20th-27th February 2016). According to NEN, we are one of the top 40 engineering/Management colleges of India who are selected for this award, out of more than 1600 such colleges participated in celebrating E Week 2016.

    The Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIEDC) of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT) coordinated with meritorious students for the 2nd Edition of "NASCCOM eSummit 2016" at Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Salt Lake in Kolkata held on 19 February 2016 , Friday. This event was based on the theme of 3E - Education, Employability and Entrepreneurship - where various practitioners from the Indian software industry deliberated on these issues to the students. To encourage the students, at the eSummit, Dewang Mehta Foundation Trust felicitated topper students (First/Second/Third) from each stream of Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics & Telecommunication, Computer Applications and Electrical Engineering with "Dewang Mehta Excellence Award".

ENTREPRENEURSHIP CELL SUCCESS STORIES DURING ASSESSMENT YEAR 2016-2017

• IIEDC has designed a logo and a facebook page to generate awareness related to its activities. IIEDC has also prepared a website www.iiedc.msitonline.org to generate more awareness related to its activities. • IIEDC, the E-Cell of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology, has organized an intra-collegiate exhibition-cum-competition" Innovation Challenge 2016" on 27th -28th April 2016. 25 projects from 5 streams with 83 participants competed during the event. The event was held in association with IEEE KOLKATA SECTION, IET KOLKATA NETWORK, ACM STUDENT CHAPTER, NATIONAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP NETWORK (NEN), GATE FORUM For the event "Innovation Challenge 2016", IIEDC has provided a total cash prize of INR 18000 and also funding several projects for realization. • IIEDC have launched three-year student curriculum for entrepreneurship of Wadhwani Foundation's Curriculum Program. • Students of MSIT and IIEDC members secured First Position in the event titled "PAVE THE WAY" organized by IIEST, Shibpur on 10th and 11the August 2016. • Students of MSIT and IIEDC members secured First Position in Creation the event titled "SHARE THE FUTURE" in true spirit at Trajectory 2016 organized by Jadavpur University department of Mechanical Engineering. • Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology has been empanelled into the Pradhan Mantri YUVA Yojana (Formerly Known as UDYAMITA). MSIT is one of the only 223 project institutes empanelled across India. This is indeed a good initiative from our end to support startup India through Wadhwani Foundation and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) for fostering the diversified entrepreneurship initiatives at MSIT. • A group of IIEDC-MSIT alumni are presently working under Tagore Centre for Green Technology Business Incubation (TCGTBI),IIEST for a project named "Agri-tek". • We are conducting the Wadhwani Foundation's Curriculum Program on entrepreneurship. This is three-year student curriculum for entrepreneurship. All these are certificate programs are offered through our college: 1. Orientation: WFNEN 100 – Orientation Program in Entrepreneurship 2. Expansion: WFNEN 105 – Expert Program in Entrepreneurship • Anupam Singh (CSE 3rd yr), Rohit Gupta (CSE 3rd yr), Ashish Kumar (CSE 3rd yr) and Dibyajyoti Hazra (ECE 4th yr) have won the "Infocom Future Leadership Awards (IFLA) 2016" in the student category. They received the IFLA 2016 trophy and prize money of Rs 50,000. 60 teams submitted their business ideas in the student category, 20 teams got shortlisted, 5 selected on the basis of public rating, 5 teams gave presentations to jury and 3 teams received the prize. • Anupam Singh (CSE 3rd yr) received First prize in B-Plan competition at "Entrepreneurship Development Workshop 2017" organised by Department of Economics of Presidency University. • Anupam Singh (CSE 3rd yr) received First prize in B-Model competition at "Srijan - Annual Techno Management Fest 2017" organised by Jadavpur University. • Anupam Singh (CSE 3rd yr) received First prize in B-Plan competition at "Eureka" at Innovacion 2017 organised by Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM), Kolkata. • 10 stalls for MSIT students were allotted by MAKAUT for their INDUSTRY ACADEMIA CONCLAVE funded by WBUT TEQIP -II Programme on 25 -27 March, 2017 at Milan Mela Prangan. 10 innovative product / prototype/ projects were showcased in 10 stalls. The second prize for innovation and stall went to MSIT for RETINA – A ray of hope ( a smart stick for the visually impaired). Sarthak Chakraborty (EE, 3rd yr), Rohan Tripathi (EE, 3rd yr) and Sukanya Sen (EE, 3rd yr) represented MSIT for RETINA.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP CELL SUCCESS STORIES DURING ASSESSMENT YEAR 2017-2018

• • Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology, A Unit of Techno India Group, in association with IEEE Kolkata Section, IET Kolkata Network, ACM Students' Chapter, Nasscom 10000 Startups, Start Up India, WFEN, Kolkata Ventures and Rotary International organised a two-day technological innovation festival for students named as "INNOVATE 2017" at the institute premises on 28th & 29th April 2017. The main aim of the competition was to encourage students to make real time proto-types and solve numerous real life problems. A couple of competitive events for different school and college students were organized during this festival on 29th April, 2017. Eminent dignitaries from industries were present for the occasion. • An inter-disciplinary student group has won the B-Plan competition in Entrepreneurship Summit organised by Economics Department Presidency University. Team "Engineurs" under the mentorship of Mr.Subhrapratim Nath of CSE department and Mr. Kamalendu Langan of ECE department, the students - Ashish Kumar, Anupam Kumar Singh, and Saikat Roy Chowdhury are working on a project on Smart Home automation which is very unique with its application. The same team achieved winner position in Entrepreneurship Summit organised by Kalyani Government Engineering College. • 12 of our students divided in three teams participated in Bengalathon 2018, the first ever Hackathon event organized by Govt. of West Bengal. A total of 793 teams from corporate and academia participated in the event and our all the three teams reached the final. It is a great achievement for the students and faculty mentors of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology who bagged two prestigious prizes [1st Runners Up and 2nd Runners Up] in the Bengalathon 2018 competition. Under the mentorship of Mr. Subhrapratim Nath, Assistant Professor of CSE Department, Pinaki Prasad Guha Neogi, Piyali Chackraburtty, Amit Kr Prajapati and Saikat Roy Chowdhury, all 3rd year students of CSE & ECE Departments of Team Innovation Skyline stunned the judges at the Bengalathon [Project competition] of BENGAL GLOBAL BUSINESS SUMMIT, 2018 with their jaw-dropping idea & prototype model and became the 1st Runner Up. In addition to this, Anilava Kundu, Ria Mukherjee, Puja Ghosal, and Anirban Kundu all 3rd year students of IT Department of Team Cyber Creepers under the mentorship of Mr. Indrajit Das, Assistant Professor of IT Department participated in the same competition i.e. Bengalathon – 2018 from fintech domain and grabbed the 2nd Runner Up • 3 -day Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) from: 14.02.18-16.02.18 organized by Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology sponsored by Department of Higher Education Science & Technology and Biotechnology (DHESTBT), (Science & Technology Branch), Government of W. B. DAY 1: The day started with registration of the students for the 3-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) at the Seminar Hall of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology. The awareness camp was inaugurated by lighting up the holy lamp by Chief Guest & Honorable Vice Chancellor- MAKAUT, the Director-Academic Quality Assurance-Techno India Group, Director-MSIT, Principal- MSIT, Prof. (Dr.) Manas K. Sanyal, HOD-HRM, IIEST & Secretary-TCGTBI, Chief Patron Mr. Amiya Kumar Kalidaha, Senior Scientific Officer, DHESTBT-GoWB and Registrar, MSIT. After that, distinguished guests on the dais were felicitated by the Principal and the Registrar, MSIT. Prof. (Dr.) Manas Kr. Sanyal, HOD-Department of Human Resource Management, IIEST, Shibpur presented a speech on 'The evolution and importance of entrepreneurship in the present Indian context' Mr. Amiya Kumar Kalidaha, Senior Scientific Officer, DHESTBT-GoWB delivered a speech on the 'Workshop Objective, Decision to be an Entrepreneur, its pros and cons, Motivation through Idea, Creativity and Innovation (ICI)' DAY 2:Mr. Partho Chakrabarti, General Manager, Tagore Centre for Green Technology Business Incubation (TCGTBI), IIEST-Shibpur took a session on Concept about Business Plan (B-Plan), how to write a B-Plan/Project Report and Group formation for B-Plan presentation on the 16th February 2018. Mr. Ashok Sinha Roy, GM – District Industries Centre, Howrah presented a session on 'How to start Micro & Small units, its Technical, Commercial & Financial aspects, assistance from Govt. agencies and its rules and regulations etc.' Mr. Ganesh Chandra Bhowal, Retd. Lead District Manager, Director, United Bank Rural Self Employment Training Institute presented a session on 'Support and financial assistance from Govt. agencies, banks, financial institutions and Venture Capitalists (VC), Angel Investors (AI) etc. Factories were visited after lunch in the Kasba Industrial Estate, Kolkata. While design concepts don't always translate through diagrams and photos, in-person discussion while looking at an actual unit, can be very powerful when it comes to having a better understanding. The students visited the following factories: 1.Tempcon, Phase 1, Kasba Industrial Estate, Kolkata, West Bengal 2.Geetanjali Solar, Phase 1, Kasba Industrial Estate, Kolkata, West Bengal DAY 3: The day started with Mr. Aaquib Hussain, Co-Founder, I&We Engagements in the session named 'Interaction with a Successful Entrepreneur'. The interaction was followed by Group Presentation (on B-Plan) of the Students in presence of Panelist. Finally the day and the 3-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp ended with discussion with the participants/feedback about the Camp, Award & Participation Certificate, and Presentation, followed by Valedictory Function.
